Green tea is one of the most healthy beverage present today. I am also a huge fan of it. Modern scientific researches have shown that drinking green tea can be helpful in preventing disease in healthy individuals and can be used for recovery by unhealthy people.
Green tea has became popular among individuals. The web is full of commercials and articles on Benefits of drinking green tea. Most of the popular blog on the net have an article explaining the benefits of green tea. So i decided to do some research and come up with my own article describing Green Tea and it’s benefits.
Green tea is made from leaves of evergreen shrub Camellia sinensis. Leaves and leaf buds of Camellia sinensis are used to produce tea. Due to growing conditions, horticulture, different production methods, and time of harvest there are several varieties of green tea available.
China is the country of origin for green tea, but later the cultivation and production of green tea spread across many Asian countries. Green Tea consumption has its origin in China dating back to more than 4,000 years ago. China, India, Sri Lanka and Japan are some of the countries involved in the production of various types of tea.
Regular Green tea contains 99.9% water, provides 1 Calorie per 100 ml serving. It entirely lack any significant nutrient content and contains phytochemicals, such as polyphenols and caffeine. EGCG is the most abundant catechin in tea. Various scientific researches are being conducted on EGCG for its potential to affect human health and disease. EGCG is used in many dietary supplements. Cardiovascular disease is a class of diseases that involve the heart or blood vessels. Various experiments and studies have tries to find some links between Green tea consumption and Heart disease. The results found in these studies have shown positive results. Daily consumption of Green tea can lower the chances of death from a Cardiovascular disease. Drinking Green tea widens the blood vessels reducing the risk of blood clots and the the flow of blood is improved throughout the body.
Type 2 Diabetes Prevention
Type 2 Diabetes is a long term metabolic disorder that is characterized by high blood sugar, insulin resistance, and relative lack of insulin. Type 2 diabetes is associated with a ten-year-shorter life expectancy. Type 2 Diabetes makes 90% of cases of diabetes. It is preventable by exercising and dietary changes. Researchers have found that daily consumption of Green tea may lower the risk of Type 2 Diabetes.
Liver Disease Prevention
Multiple studies have shown that green tea consumption can reduce the chances of liver disease or liver cancer.

Green tea and green tea extracts, such as its component EGCG, have traditionally been used to prevent and treat a variety of cancers, including breast, stomach, and skin cancers. Various scientific studies show that green tea may help protect against or slow the growth of certain cancers, but studies in people have shown mixed results.

It is the world’s most widely consumed psychoactive drug, but — unlike many other psychoactive substances — it is legal and unregulated in nearly all parts of the world. Caffeine is used to reduce physical fatigue and to prevent or treat drowsiness. The caffeine component of green tea is responsible for the feeling alert and active.
Green tea may boost metabolism and help burn fat. Additional evidence reveals that continual green tea consumption can further help to maintain weight.
Lower risk of infections
Green tea can kill bacteria which lowers your risk of infection. It can improve your dental health also. Green tea consumption is associated with improved dental health and a lower risk of breakdown of teeth due to activities of bacteria.
Green Tea Can Help Reduce Depression, Anxiety and Stress.
Autoimmune Disease Prevention
A disease in which the body produces antibodies that attack its own tissues, leading to the deterioration and in some cases to the destruction of such tissue. Auto-reactive T cells act against the body tissues, resulting in various forms of autoimmune diseases. EGCG found in green tea has been shown to suppress auto-reactive T cell proliferation, which help to regulate T-helper cell balance.
Over consumption of green tea should be strictly avoided. A few cups a day has been shown to be beneficial for human body. Do not use sugar with your your tea. Try using honey if you want some sweet flavor in your cup.
